Medical fitness programs are supervised exercise programs designed for individuals who are managing a medical condition such as heart disease or diabetes; transitioning from a clinical rehabilitation program; or simply needing additional support starting an exercise program. These programs are designed to improve individual health and fitness and support patient recovery.
Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation
Phase III cardiac rehabilitation is a maintenance exercise program for individuals who have completed Phase II cardiac rehabilitation or been referred by their physician. Phase III assists individuals in continuing to improve their strength and endurance on a more independent basis in addition to learning how to manage their overall heart health.
This program puts an increased emphasis on self-monitoring and preparing the individual to begin a more independent fitness program at the Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center. Patients undergo periodic assessment of their fitness to determine progress towards health and fitness goals as well as receive ongoing heart health education.
Phase III is conducted at the Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center Personal Training Studio and is supervised by degreed and national certified personal trainers.
Diabetes Exercise Program
Our Diabetes Exercise Program is an eight-week, physician-referred fitness program designed for individuals diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Our program follows guidelines from the American Diabetes Association and the American College of Sports Medicine and focuses on improving aerobic fitness and muscular strength to help participants decrease their blood glucose and help their body use insulin better.
Participants exercise at the Health and Fitness Center twice per week under the guidance of a nationally certified personal trainer and must report their blood glucose before exercising. Progress is monitored via a pre- and post-program fitness assessment that includes an InBody body composition analysis.
