Cherry Ann Pierce, a mental health tech on the Adult Psychiatric Unit, has achieved the Be Exceptional Everyday (BEE) award at Conway Regional for the compassion she shows patients and coworkers.
Many of the patients that Cherry Ann cares for are experiencing emotional crisis while they are receiving care in APU and she provides “reassurance and comfort as they go through crisis situations,” according to a nomination from her co-workers.
The nomination added, “She notices the small things that make people happy and tries to make everyone feel special.”
The nomination cited some of Cherry Ann’s compassionate acts for co-workers and patients:
She picked up extra shifts for a co-worker during a time of family crisis.
Cherry Ann has gone to thrift stores to pick up coats and other clothing for homeless patients.
She is currently working with co-workers in APU to establish a food pantry for homeless patients.
Cherry Ann has worked at Conway Regional for the past six years.
The BEE award is decided by a vote of the Patient Care Governing Congress with coworkers voting on each employee’s nomination without knowing the nominee’s name or department. All non-nursing staff members are eligible for the BEE award and patients, family members or co-workers can nominate an employee for the award. Nurses demonstrating exemplary patient care are nominated for the DAISY Award.
